You don’t have to search for telephone numbers and then phone busy restaurants in Cambridgeshire to be told there are no vacancies anymore. Ziconix’s new pilot service “MyTypeOf” table booking approach allows you to search on most mobile phones for suitable restaurant types, enter the details of the booking you require and then let the service use automated voice telephony to phone the restaurants and find you an available table. When one has been found, the service sends you an SMS message with the details and links to a map if you need it.
The restaurant guide contains details of over 200 restaurants and is being trialled in Cambridgeshire before being made available nationally through partners and for other applications.
“The technology behind the service is an example of the convergence that is expected to take place across a range of applications. This allows services to be developed which match the requirements of users and providers without the need for the use of additional technology”, says Matt Sims, Business Development Director. “Restaurants use a telephone and a book to take reservations so its no use offering them email or web based interfaces.”
